Knowing how much baggage we carried into our marriage, we understand that we truly did do our best to enjoy life after trauma. Thank you for walking down memory lane with us during this Sunday series.

It is interesting to look back at how quickly we thought the pandemic would end and how stir-crazy we got from being isolated. The pandemic hadn’t even been with us a year, and we now have no clue why we would have chosen to travel to Mammoth, CA in August of 2020. Scott’s father owned a condo there and I had never had a chance to visit since we lived in Missouri or Colorado for most of our marriage. What better place to escape for a week? During a pandemic? We never posted anything about the trip—it seemed a bit reckless.
Things we did not fully predict—the good and the bad:
The near impossibility of finding restrooms—though we did pack an emergency pop-up tent and “facilities.”
Trips are not the same without eating in restaurants—ever. Traveling was certainly less expensive!
We never visited a single tourist spot—few were open. This meant we spent most of our time outdoors.

Weber was a great little traveler and was very happy to be taken on so many walks.

We enjoyed watching movies, going on picnics, and playing games. One afternoon, Scott rented an electric bike and enjoyed a ride while I spent time writing.

It was a great adventure, but soon it was time to head back to Washington.
