The number of ideas that I can come up with before I eat breakfast can be a bit overwhelming. Ideas do require coffee, but not much else. Substack was one of those ideas. Having an idea and implementing it are two different things. It has taken me some time and help from Tammy—my virtual assistant who kept me from drowning this past year—to get this up and running.
From May to December we put some content in and figured out how everything worked. Then we paused as I waded through two conferences. On February 13th, I took a deep breath and launched! I am grateful that in a bit over a month, I have reached over 150 subscribers. Look where you are all located! That’s 34 states—help me get the other 16! Plus, there are subscribers from eleven countries! (more than in this photo)
The biggest surprise was when seven subscribers pledged paid subscriptions! I eventually ran across the messages left with the pledges, and it was a bit of an emotional moment (understated). The most recent one is below: (Thank you, Donna—and to all others who have pledged and left messages!)
I will not flip the switch to paid subscriptions until I have my wings under me. While I feel like those who have pledged are supporting my work in general—in whatever form it arrives—I would like to offer content specifically for paid subscribers. So, my goal is to hopefully have time to create the additional content by May 1st. It will be a May Day Celebration!
Paid subscribers will have access to the following weekly content (with more to come):
Brave Survivors: In connection with the current series on What I Wish I had Known Before Beginning Therapy, I will be doing a series on What I Wish I had Understood about Inner Child Healing and sharing wisdom gained and healing practices with examples from my healing journey.
Trauma in the Pews 2.0: The current free newsletter series is providing the background information for building Post-Traumatic Spiritual Practices. The subscriber-only content will provide a workbook-type series as options for specific practices.
Thank you to all my subscribers, and double thanks to those who have pledged. It has been so encouraging to know that my dream to devote more of my time to writing is possible and that others who are able to do so are helping me! Please share!
Side Note: I have not yet intentionally recommended any other Substacks—but it seems it may have happened unintentionally. Not saying I wouldn’t, but I have not had time to decide what those would be. Oops!
