Creative Thursdays: Websites and Marketing
"The creative adult is the child who survived." — Ursula Leguin
Once upon a time, Scott and I lived in an RV at the edge of Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. It is where I healed and finished writing and published BRAVE and then wrote Jeannie’s BRAVE Childhood and A BRAVE Life. We fulfilled our dream of living in an RV and would repeat the adventure in Washington State before moving to the cottage where we now live. While in Colorado, I decided to commemorate the adventure with a website, RV Home Yet: Full-Time RV Living (there is also a Facebook page that has pictures of our more recent adventures).
One of my favorite author memories was waiting for the delivery truck to arrive with copies of my very first book, BRAVE. I spotted the truck out of my office window and headed for the office. The staff was as excited as I was! We eventually had the book displayed in the lobby along with books by other Colorado authors.
Though publishers help authors market books, it also requires effort and creativity! I have enjoyed engaging my readers in creative ways. My most popular marketing post was for A BRAVE Life, in which the story of the Wizard of Oz is woven throughout.
Albert Einstein once said, “Creativity is intelligence having fun.” I believe it is important to include these posts each week because a key to healing and evidence of healing is enjoying the release of creativity. Thank you for enjoying life along with me!
Thank you for your insightful posts. I am also on my healing journey, and my creativity has finally bubbled to the surface. I am just now comfortable with sharing my creative efforts with the world.
