Not sure if others need a break from the seriousness of life right now, but I do. So, this may be an entire week of Green Door Antique Store. The other ongoing series will return on a semi-regular basis after this week—and there is hope that we may be able to return to the cottage sooner than anticipated. We have crossed the six-week marker since Scott’s surgery and he has progressed from wheelchair to walker, to cane!

Green Door Antique Store: Part II—The Booths
Chapter Fifteen: Saturday Lunch in the Café
One by one, the ten women filtered into the café, picked up a plate, and gathered sandwiches, chips, and fruit from the side table. Evelynn was the last to arrive. Lynda had saved her a seat at her table and waved for her to join them.
The room was abuzz with conversations. Everyone seemed excited about what they had collected. Even Evelynn seemed enamored with how the white angels she had collected stood out against the red walls of her booth.
“How close do you think you are to being done with your booth?” Janyne asked the other women at her table.
“Not even close!” Crystal answered. “It seems the booth is a bit larger than I thought. I may need to expand my theme a bit to fill it. There just aren’t that many Bohemian-esque treasures in the basement.”
“Yes, I can see how that might be true,” Jayne responded. “I will watch for you when I go back to the basement. I need more also. I feel like one day was an unrealistic expectation.”
The kitchen door swung open, and Thyme appeared with cupcakes that were frosted with the colors of the booths. It seemed a bit excessive and yet, everyone smiled.
“Find your color cupcake and enjoy,” Thyme said cheerily. “I have worked for several years to perfect the food coloring for the frosting.” The woman was a never-ending surprise.
“Oh!” Thyme continued. “I heard that some were concerned that they might not have enough time to finish today. Sunday is intended as a day to rest, but if your ox is in the ditch, you can finish up tomorrow. Just sleep in first!”
There was an audible sigh of relief from several around the room as the ten women finished eating their cupcakes and took their leave to work on their booth. They were all unaware that their lips matched their booth color until they noticed the colors on everyone else’s lips.
“That is hilarious,” Belynda laughed. “My Cat’s Meow pink is the only one that looks like lipstick!”
“Not true,” Evelynn said as she headed for the door. “I have always been fond of red lipstick. This is the best thing that has happened. I feel more inspired about my booth now.”
Ten sets of eyes stared after her in amazement.
“Well,” Thyme—who had appeared again—exclaimed. “Will wonders ever cease?!”
This is a good break from the heaviness of life right now.
What fun! I didn’t expect lipstick!!
