You can read the first four chapters here! The fifth chapter is here. If you need the diagram again, it will always be at the end of the chapter.
Chapter Six: Dinner
Ten exhausted women arrived in the café at 6:00 sharp. Thyme was scurrying about placing food on the sideboard.
“Oh good, you are all right on time! Dinner is ready. You have a few choices. There is salad and two kinds of soup. There is also macaroni and cheese since that is always a good comfort food. I know it has been a rough day. You can also help yourself to the fresh fruit on the other table. That will be is available any time. Oh, and if you would like a grilled cheese sandwich with your soup, I am prepared to make it!”
Several opted for the grilled cheese and soon everyone had gathered their food and settled at the tables. Thyme looked at the group like a proud mother and turned to head back to what must be the kitchen in the center of the building.
“Wait!” Lynda said in a take-charge kind of voice. “We have questions we need answered.”
“Oh, I imagine you do!” Thyme answered with a smile. “When you are finished eating, go through the door to the kitchen and you will see a stairway that will take you to the top floor where your rooms are. There is a sitting area there and I will do my best to answer your questions before you all head off to bed. Oh, and when you go to the kitchen could you take your dishes and put them in the dishwasher?”
That seemed like a reasonable request.
As I ate, I wondered why I didn’t notice that it was a two-story building when I arrived. Probably because I was so taken by the massive green door!
Everyone seemed too hungry for much light conversation, but several tables began working on the questions they would ask after dinner. They had quite a list before we started to clear the tables and head upstairs.
To Be Continued . . .
Hmmmm. Thyme is an interesting character.
