Knowing how much baggage we carried into our marriage, we understand that we truly did do our best to enjoy life after trauma. Thank you for walking down memory lane with us during this Sunday series.
“Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone.”

Scott and I met at a church in Huntington Beach, California. It only made sense that most of the time we spent together took us in the direction of the beach. I had only recently moved there. Scott had lived there since he was in elementary school and spent a good portion of his life at this beach.

The city has changed, but the feeling of coming home remains. Right after Trauma in the Pews was published, we were in Southern California for Scott’s father’s memorial service and decided to spend a few days in a retro hotel across from Huntington Beach. The beach is always where we go to rest. I needed the beach!

Of course, there are the sunsets! I enjoyed every lingering moment.

“If there's heaven for me, I'm sure it has a beach attached to it."

Finally, as often as I have been to Huntington Beach, this may be my favorite picture. It captures friendship, the joy of doing what you enjoy most, and the best place to hang out with someone you love. May there be many beaches in all of our futures!
I love the ocean!
