Next week, I will return to regular content including the We Do Therapy series and the Purple Elephant Trauma Series, but today I am very excited to announce this new venture! Religious Trauma content will begin rotating with the McMusings for the Saturday offerings. I am excited to have a home and community for the work I do in this arena!
I love it when a plan comes together! The Religious Trauma Network has launched!
When I published Trauma in the Pews, it introduced me to a whole new circle of people working to help themselves and others heal. This time, it meant healing from Religious Trauma.
As I began to engage with leaders, I lamented that there wasn’t a place where all the various voices could gather, find resources, and share their stories. I often say things and find out that others are thinking the same thing—and that someone is getting ready to run with the idea. That is exactly what happened. Before long Rebekah Drumsta hatched a plan for the Religious Trauma Network and began gathering a team. You can find our bios including those for the other two team members, David Ruybalid and Luke Renner, here! Yes, my blue bicycle feels right at home with this team!
We are just getting started, but you can find resources, blogs, and our first podcast on the Religious Trauma Network website.

6 Steps That Support Recovering From Religious Trauma
The Religious Trauma Network’s mission is to offer comprehensive information, resources, and support for individuals recovering from religious trauma while raising awareness and equipping professionals and organizations to create safe, trauma-responsive spaces inside their faith or healing communities
As always, any venture in which I get involved must promote healing as a primary focus. It also must be committed to providing safe spaces for that healing to occur. Finally, it must be trauma-informed/sensitive/responsive. I have chosen to be involved in the Religious Trauma Network because all of us share these commitments.
At the Religious Trauma Network, we understand the profound impact of spiritual abuse and religious trauma because each member of our team has navigated their own unique journeys through these experiences. This shared understanding is the foundation upon which we have built our community.
We are committed to fostering a different kind of space—one that is safe, inclusive, and supportive. Here, everyone can embark on their healing journey with compassionate allies by their side, cheering them on as they move forward.
Thank you to Rebekah for her tireless work on the website! It exudes healing!
You can also find us on Facebook and Instagram. We would love to have you join our community. We are Healing Forward Together.
I will be crossposting Religious Trauma posts from my Substack to the RTN website. First one: Is Religious Trauma Impacting You?
