What Has Been Happening at RockWall Cottage?

We are gearing up for Thanksgiving. It will be a two-day event, first with our RockWall family and then with our children and grandchildren who will be with other family members on Thanksgiving Day. It will be our first Thanksgiving at RockWall Cottage and will be delightfully (hopefully) crowded.

You may have seen our weather event on the news last week. What is a Cyclone Bomb?

The word "bombogenesis" is a combination of "cyclogenesis," which describes the formation of a cyclone or storm, and "bomb" for its explosiveness. "This can happen when a cold air mass collides with a warm air mass, such as air over warm ocean waters," NOAA said. "The formation of this rapidly strengthening weather system is a process called bombogenesis, which creates what is known as a bomb cyclone." (Source)

We were in a pocket that was protected from the wind, but cities all around us were not so fortunate. Read about it here. Many are still without electricity. On a drive after the storm passed, it was definitely the calm after the storm.

News, Highlights from Previous Weeks, What’s Coming, and Other Stuff

• The regular content will take a break this week. What will arrive in your inbox is at this point a surprise to both of us—and may arrive at less predictable times. I have several projects in progress and will do a bit of self-care by ad-libbing the content this week.

• For any of my readers who are not able to look forward to the holidays, I understand and for that reason, I will not over-do holiday content. Many of my most difficult memories occurred during this season and impacted my ability to enjoy holidays. My holiday preparations include self-care!

• I have decided to gravitate from the “formerly Twitter” platform to BlueSky. Maybe it was the blue butterfly! I do not know how much I will engage (the word limit is challenging LOL) but if you are there, please find me @janynemc.bsky.social

• Again, the goal is to complete the We Do Therapy Series by mid-December. If anyone would like this series to pick up again in the new year, let me know!

• The Purple Elephant Trauma Series will return next week with content explaining the connection between attachment and resilience.
