RockWall Cottage Chronicles
A newsy, sometimes amusing, usually interesting fly-on-the-RockWall view of my life as an author with updates from my Substack adventures.
The small cottage where I live and write has been affectionally named RockWall Cottage because of the rock wall that divides our side of the property from the side of the property where our friends, the owners of the cottage, live. (Learn More)
What Has Been Happening at RockWall Cottage?
The hens are now all laying eggs. That means nine eggs a day. It doesn’t take long to gather a dozen. Our neighbors love us.
And while I love my back porch in the summer, watching football by the fire on a rainy, cold day comes in a close second. Realizing I could change out my heritage wall with the select few Christmas decor items I still cherish was unexpectedly delightful!

News, Highlights from Previous Weeks, What’s Coming, and Other Stuff
During the last week of 2024, I will be sending out posts that will serve as way to easily access previously published series—some that newer subscribers missed. These posts will be collected under the Substack Series tab on the menu. There have been quite a few! This will allow me to make room on the menu for current projects and still provide access to older series. I look forward to reflecting on my Substack writing journey as I end 2024.
This past week was a difficult one—Scott is doing well but facing some tests and we have decided we are too old and tired to be doing old people's health issues. That really is an expectation that should not be placed on old people. All the “excitement” has me playing catch up for Christmas! But all is well, and we are grateful.
As a result, I will be writing another eclectic potpourri for the next two weeks. An important piece of self-care for me is to “unschedule” myself. I am going to begin on Wednesday with an eight-day series prompted by a Facebook comment. From there, who knows what or when posts will show up, but I will enjoy writing whatever I send out! I hope you do too!
Again, for any of my readers who are not able to look forward to the holidays, I understand and for that reason, I will not overdo holiday content. If your story involves religious trauma, this article at the Religious Trauma Network might be helpful: Religious Trauma Recovery: Holiday Support
