Many years ago when my dad was hospitalized, I became aware of the care taken by hospitals to incorporate art in the hallways and lounges. It became a crucial part of self-care during medical crises over the years. The area of the University of Washington Medical Center where Scott went for tests today was newer and did not disappoint me!
The pictures below were taken during my exploration while waiting for Scott to return to his room. I spent some time looking at resources about the ways that many work to soften the hard edges in difficult situations. These were my favorites.

Sitting amongst a group of artists recently I had this thought only I couldn’t put it into words. Art softens the hard edges. In a world of hard, we need art to fill the spaces and soften what is. Thank you!
We have some beautiful art incorporated into the cancer center here. It really does make a difference!
