Time to flip the switch! Even Substack agrees!
Your subscribers pledged more than $1,000 in annualized revenue to seed your subscription revenueโa clear signal that thereโs a market for your publication!
Wow! I am so grateful!
While living in Missouri, we decided to start a landscape business. I appreciated Scottโs cautious approach to beginning the business. He began with our self-propelled mower and we would often take turns on larger fields. When the accounts continued to build, he upgraded the equipment. He had watched far too many people leap in too deeply with loans for fancy equipment before they even knew if it was something they wanted to doโor could do. This same caution slowed my decision to accept paid subscriptionsโit is a commitment.
After two months, I have determined that yes, I can do thisโand it will be enjoyable. I have appreciated the comments that have come in with the subscriptionsโso encouraging when one is about to make a time commitment. This is the latest:
The one thing that I have missed here on Substack is interaction with my readers. After five years monitoring the comments on a page that grew to thousands of followers, the break felt wonderful and I have no desire to build another following like that one. But conversations are one of my favorite things! The following quote was in my recent email from Substack. It expresses my hope very well.
โSubstack subscribers arenโt followers; they are part of an engaged community. I speak to my paid subscribers like we are friends. It feels like a genuine connection.โ
Free Content will continue with McMusings, Brave Survivor Posts, and some new ideas I am excited about! For paid subscribers, I have a plan for the summer that includes opportunities for engagement (understanding that it is a busy time for everyone)! I will explain this further as June begins. Along with the following, I am working on another book similar in format to Hotel Candelabra that will be available to paid subscribers in the fall.
June: Section 2-Part One: What is Self-Regulation and How Can it Help You Find Inner Peace?
July: Section 2-Part Two: What is the Pause and How Can It Help You Live a Less Stressful Life?
August: Section 2-Part Three: What is Agency and How Can it Empower You to Make Choices?
Each month will include these opportunities for engagement!

I just subscribed and am so looking forward to your summer content! Thank you.
You might have to teach some of us who are not so tech savvy how to engage via Substack. I'm learning!
