When the Mountain is Out
Watching and Listening Intently for the God Glimmers in Times of Stress
I wasn’t sure what I would post in this Sunday slot but my hospital reflection reminded me of how well God cares for me in ways I do not expect. It is never a big monumental thing and could be easily missed if I wasn’t paying attention. I never doubt but that it is God giving me a glimmer of hope.
Scott and I remember the days when illness only kept us down for a few days. Those days are far behind us, and though Scott is improving and hopefully will receive the treatment that will speed that along soon, recovery is far more challenging now.
Our glimmer has been the sunny days that are a rare treat here in the Pacific Northwest during the winter. I took this picture when we ventured out for a short walk in the sunshine—with the help of a walker—something that is needed less and less but certainly makes things safer!
I remember visiting this small town a few years before moving to the cottage and thinking, “Oh! I would love to live here with this view of Mt. Rainier!” Wishes do come true sometimes! I have been obsessed with mountains since I was a child, and this one is definitely my favorite. Something that is obvious by the number of pictures I have on my phone. When the mountain is out—as we say here—it is always a God Glimmer.

Such a beautiful glimmer. I love mountains. Particularly snow capped ones they are absolutely stunning.
Beautiful glimmers!
