Green Door Antique Store: What’s that Secret You’re Keeping?
You can read the first four chapters here! The fifth chapter is here and chapter six is here. If you need the diagram again, it will always be at the end of the chapter.
Chapter Seven: Upstairs
The ten of us made short work of clearing the café. We were all curious about what we would find in the center of the building and upstairs. Stepping into the kitchen, we were surprised to find a well-fitted modern kitchen. I think we had expected to find a room full of antique appliances!
Loading the dishes in the dishwasher on the way through, we located the stairway and climbed to the second floor. The stairway emptied out into a large loft that had been set up as a living area. Around the edges were eleven doors. The one over the entryway had a large antique green door—I assumed that must be Thyme’s room. All the other rooms had doors the same colors as the booths. That left little question about which room we would be staying in.
The green door opened and Thyme stepped into the room and walked over to a record player sitting on a side table. The music began, Tick Tock, Tick Tock, and the strains from a long-forgotten but familiar song filled the room.
Green Door, What’s that Secret You’re Keeping?
Thyme watched as the group began connecting the song and the name of the antique store. It seemed a bit incongruous that it would be named after a song that seemed to be about a speakeasy, but the antique store certainly was keeping secrets, and we were here to ask questions.
When the song stopped, Thyme said, “Why don’t you go to your rooms first and get comfortable? Everything you need should be in the room and the bathroom is back there over the café’. Yes, you are back to dorm life, but I think you will find all the accommodations quite comfortable. I will play the song again when it is time to gather.”
Walking to the yellow door, I wondered what I would find. To my surprise, I found my own suitcase packed with everything I would have taken for a week-long trip. How was this even possible? The impossible was clearly possible behind the green door.
I shrugged and began unpacking.
To Be Continued . . .
Love the music! So did KB. She came running and then proceeded to dance around the room.
