Series: It's All About Me - A Journey of Healing
All the links to series posts in one easy-to-find location!
Sometimes, what I write is personal. That doesn’t necessarily mean it is heavy, though sometimes it is. It is often me just wandering about and enjoying my life. At seventy-one, that seems like an important thing to do. I also have a varied background—one can do many things in that number of years! I have enjoyed gathering my interests, life memories, skills, careers, and backgrounds in this writing space. Most “about me” posts seemed to belong in the following three categories and will be included in separate posts: Delight, Advocacy & Justice, and A Journey of Healing.
Various Series that Focus on My Journey of Healing
Since almost everything I write is about healing and often shares parts of my story, this category almost seems redundant. Yet, I sometimes write a series to fully expand on a particular part of healing, as it relates to my personal story. Some are written as McMusing or single posts that fit together in a theme.
Therapeutic Healing Journey
A Snapshot of Healing: This post is a reprint from my blog post in November of 2017.
Saltiness: A Reflection on Healing from the Impact of Trauma (October 24, 2024 marked the 10th anniversary of the day I walked into therapy.)
McMusing: The Complexities of Guilt & Grief (Giving ourselves permission to grieve)
McMusing: Holding Hope for the Future (You do have a future. You just can't see it right now. I will hold it for you until you get there.)
McMusing: What Our Bodies are Telling Us: (How can we help the next generation honor the need to rest?)
Healing through Inner Child Work
My academic background in child development was helpful in understanding myself as a child after the impact of trauma and unmet needs were understood. This shows up often in my writing. They get lost in the mix but are some of my favorite pieces.
McMusing: Small Bodies - Big Emotions (Reframing what it means to be a child (or adult) with needs and emotions.)
Healing and Faith
Two-Part Reflection: Just What I Needed this Week and An Unshakable Faith
An Easter Reflection: A Survivor's Perspective on Why Easter Matters.
McMusing: Thoughts on Untangling Life: (At the root was a childlike faith that believed that God was good and loving.)
My View from the Pew: (A personal reflection on Trauma in the Pews.)
Finding Purpose and Mission
McMusing: Getting Caught in a Wake (The danger of becoming comfortable.)
McMusing: Life and the Game of Solitaire (What does it mean to win at the game of life?)
My Work as an "Investigative Journalist" (What if I could make sense of myself and why I seem to wander off the path so often?)
Getting Back on the Path (Figuring out who we are is one of the most challenging aspects of healing.)
